The story of Tommy Joe Travis is an imaginary account of the life and encounters of a U.S. Army helicopter pilot who grew up in Wimberly, Texas not far from the San Marcos Army Air Field and the helicopter training school there at the time. Tommy Joe’s flying and otherwise adventures span the period from the Korean War of the 1950s to Desert Storm of the early 1990s.

Tommy Joe Travis and his cohorts lived and flew in wars in places around the globe known to many U.S. Armed Forces members in their duty assignments. His life intersected with some interesting people and events as he rotored his way through life. Part of his adventure was with the beginning of the Huey and Cobra helicopters and part was during the time the tiltrotor aircraft was developed. Parts of each cycle might have included some imagination.
